Our client is APL Logistics, a division of American Presidents Line, which is the seventh largest global ocean shipping line in the world, operating in over 100 countries. With more than 160 years of experience, this $1.5 Billion international logistics division provides ocean shipping and container transportation services through a network combining high-quality intermodal operations with leading-edge IT and e-commerce. 

APL Logistics secured a contract with SC Johnson and needs to place a Group General Manager for their Kenosha, WI facility. This position will be responsible for the overall performance of multiple distribution center locations in and around the Western area.

• Directs the operations of the warehouse management team to achieve prescribed objectives.
• Develops and maintains a productive work team by creating programs for hiring, training, professional development, coach, counsel and discipline subordinates.
• Implements performance evaluation system that will provide a forum to two-way communication in reviewing past performance, setting future goals, and clearly defining expectations.
• Ensures the creation of the necessary transportation information systems to meet Company objectives and facilitate the efficient operations of transportation.
• Remains knowledgeable regarding changes in hardware and software technology.
• Assists in the establishment of customer service standards for all accounts and communicates and emphasizes the importance of these standards to all personnel.
• Maintains appropriate contact with all accounts and responds to requests when made.
• Participates in Company marketing and sales efforts, including planning new account strategies, prospecting for new accounts, making sales calls, developing and quoting rates, negotiating contracts and closing sales.
• Develops and recommends an annual operating budget.
• Develops and manages a system of controls to ensure that service levels and performance goals for the operation are met within prescribed cost, revenue and profit parameters.
• Ensures that all accounts achieve predetermined profit standards.
• Procures equipment and facilities required to assure efficient operation and meet Company profit goals.
• Develops suitable programs for maintaining Company standards of safety, sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, and work habits in the operation of equipment and facilities in a manner that assures their most safe and efficient operation.
• Participates in local trade, professional and civic associations as a representative of the Company.

• 7 + years of 3PL warehousing experience, including 5 + years of management experience
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Logistics, Transportation, Distribution, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have proven successful management skills
• Must be able to develop and manage budgets
• Must be able to analyze and comprehend data
• Strong working knowledge of PC software use including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint


• Base Salary $130,000-$170,000
• Bonus
• Full relocation
