COMPANY
Our client, is a leading global third-party logistics provider supporting a variety of industries handling air, ocean, land transport, contract logistics and supply chain management.

POSITION
The General Manager will direct all aspects of a multi-shift, multi-client 400k + square foot facility.

LOCATION 
Long Beach, CA

ROLE YOU WILL PLAY
Provides hands-on management of the company’s day-to-day operations with the ultimate goal of effectively serving client’s needs
Develops, monitors, and implements processes required to effectively manage company’s current activities and operations as well as its plans for growth
Reviews the analyses of operational activities, expenditures/costs vs. forecast data to determine company progress toward state Key Performance Indicator goals and objectives
Oversees internal workflows and organizational development; directs and oversees all staff-related activities and human resources functions
Manages all operating and capital budgets in close coordination with senior staff
Ensures that all company operations comply with federal, state, local, and/or company policies and regulations
Coordinates with client and senior staff to identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement processes to reduce costs and increase and/or improve quality for all network activities and client service
Ensures that employees and managers have the required safety training and are consistently working in a safe manner; develops and implements safety programs to reduce accidents and injuries
Work with customers and representatives of transportation companies to evaluate and promote services
Direct and implement new service programs and maintain existing service programs
Improve productivity through efficient scheduling, vendor performance, adherence to standard operating procedures, and implementation of new service-oriented schedules
Ensure a safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures
Select and place staff, ensure staff receives training for their job activities, and define specific job assignments. Manage performance to ensure required levels of productivity and organizational objectives are met
Oversee the implementation of accounting programs and company establish targets

BACKGROUND PROFILE
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or a related discipline 
10 years of progressive management level operational experience
Must have multi-level, broad-range distribution experience involving pick and pack and shipping in a high volume consumer products facility
Must have experience with multiple distribution centers and / or a high volume facility: 400K SF+
Experience with Change Management and Lean Principles. 
Must have knowledge of current industry best practices and process improvement 
Must understand distribution center technical operations (APICS), statistical process control, data analysis, and budgeting
