Play you will Play:
• Work with key stakeholders including safety, maintenance, finance, and business development to drive service, growth and margin improvement.
• Assist in fleet analysis to include costing and optimization.
• Identify opportunities to improve lane balance and utilization of rolling stock and labor. 
• Establish key metrics to provide visibility into transportation performance.
• Implementation of TMS and other systems. 
• Lead, develop and train transportation and logistics personnel. 
• Develop last mile and e-commerce transportation capabilities. 
• Oversee and ensure transportation related operations comply with rules and regulations for all applicable safety and regulatory agencies.
• Lead the transportation planning process for the department, ensuring protocols and countermeasures are in place that minimize the impact of potential operational disruptions of supply chain , port shut down scenarios and other risks. 
• Provide operations performance reviews, face to face business reviews.

Background Profile:
• Bachelors’ degree, advanced degree preferred. 
• 7+ years’ experience in Transportation, Logistics, and / or Supply Chain management with multiple locations and fleets. 
•  Experience in managing union and non-union labor. 
• Demonstrated proficient in managing Logistics Operations, in a highly seasonal / variable volume business. 
• In depth knowledge of distribution terms, pricing, network design, warehouse operations, labor productivity, material handling, and yard management best practices. 
• Direct experience with TMS and / or other enterprises systems implementation and usage.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong Analytical skills. 
• Experience managing 250+ power units. 
• Working knowledge of warehousing, consolidation, and cross dock functions. 
• Experience with non-asset 3PL / brokerage functions.
