Director of Transportation (Drayage) – Multiple Locations

Our Client is a 30+ year top 10 global shipping NVOCC and freight forwarder that has been providing a full suite of supply chain services for multiple fortune 50, 100, and 500 clients across the United States.

JOB DESCRIPTION.

The Director of Transportation (Drayage) will direct and oversee the entire transportation division. This individual will have opportunity to continue to grow each of the transportation service offerings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for all transportation across multiple US locations:
  • including drayage of over 20,000 containers per year from US ports
  • LTL
  • Final Mile
  • OTR
  • Brokerage
  • Intermodal
  • Linehaul
  • Cross-border (Mexico & US)
• Full P&L and operational responsibility for all transportation.
• Manage and optimize utilization of YMS and TMS programs

• Lead the transportation planning process for the department, ensuring protocols and countermeasures are in place that minimize the impact of potential operational disruptions of supply chain, port shut down scenarios and other risks.
• Create and execute strategies to improve business process productivity and reduce freight costs while improving business profitability
• Further develop a tactical team of transportation and brokerage executives who are in line with the organization’s strategic and cultural goals, including future growth of the Transportation division
• Oversee and ensure transportation related operations comply with rules and regulations for all applicable safety and regulatory agencies including OSHA and DOT compliance.

• Responsible for all aspects of contract negotiations, implementations, and ultimately maintaining world class service and communications internally and externally.
• Work closely with harbor management while participating in port meetings
• Participation and interaction with senior-level Executives of our clients.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, Master’s degree a plus.
• 10-15+ years Senior Management experience, specifically overseeing multiple transportation division operations.
  • Experience managing the following departments (Drayage, LTL , Final Mile, OTR, Brokerage, Intermodal, Linehaul, Cross-border (Mexico & US))
• Background working with TMS and YMS systems
• Experience with TMS implementation a plus
• Strong experience dealing with harbor/port drayage regulations.
• Must have experience working with owner operators and company drivers.
• Experience managing a P&L and transportation Budget
